How do I use my steamer basket correctly?

Steaming can be a fantastic way to prepare a wide variety of foods gently – not only is the result pleasing to the eye (vegetables retain a more vibrant colour than when boiled, for example), but also vitamin-preserving and delicious. Here are our top tips to make sure nothing goes wrong on your next steaming adventure: First, fill the cookware of your choice (e.g., a pot or a sauté pan) with a few centimetres of water and put your steamer insert in. Make sure there is enough space between the water and the silicone insert so that the boiling water does not reach your steaming food.

Then, as soon as the water boils, you can place your food in the steamer insert; nothing should be on top of each other. Make sure that your vegetables & co. are cut into equal-sized pieces so that everything cooks evenly.

Tip: It is best not to open the lid during the steaming process so that the valuable steam does not evaporate. If you open the lid, please be careful and, for example, wear oven mitts, as you can easily burn yourself on the hot steam!
